Michele McCoig is a freelance photographer with a passion for the visual image, capturing moments and telling stories. She now accompanies us to our events and makes sure that we can share the best moments with you.
We asked Michele to share her personal sustainability journey with us, what it means to her and how she wants to create impact at GreenBuzz. Read her answers here:
Why did you choose to join the GreenBuzz Zurich team and what role do you play within the organization?
A few years back, a friend and member of GreenBuzz asked if I would be interested in photographing a GreenBuzz event. At the time I hadn’t heard of GreenBuzz, but after some research, I realized that I would like to play a part, even if just a small part, in helping to maintain ecological balance for the future of our planet. I believe the networking events that GreenBuzz organize, have the potential to positively influence social, environment and economic policies, keeping our planet green for generations to come. I am hopeful that through my photography, I can create a positive visual impact that encourages “Buzz” which in turn extends the reach and impact of GreenBuzz activities.
What does sustainability mean to you?
I associate the word sustainability with the modern use of the term, where sustainable development is defined as development that “meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.” I like this definition because it links the present with the future. I believe we are in possession of sufficient resources for today, if we handle them with care and with consideration, then also for the future.
What do you like about photography?
Photography is not only about getting great pictures; it is about capturing moments and representing the emotion of those moments. As an event photographer, I get to meet and interact with many interesting people in interesting environments. I enjoy the excitement and energy of photographing events.
