The Paris Climate Agreement has had a profound impact on the financial services industry. The European Commission calls for a climate-neutral Europe by 2050 (an economy with net-zero greenhouse gas emissions) and has issued a new sustainable finance regulation, which will become effective as of July 2020.

This transition to a climate-neutral society is both an urgent challenge and an opportunity to build a better future for us all. Considering the worldwide importance of the European financial centres, sustainable finance measures adopted by the EU will not only affect EU-based institutions, but also those incorporated outside the EU serving or seeking to serve European clients.
