Virtual Informal Drinks: Pesticide-Free Agriculture

7th May 2020, 18:30 - 20:30

The reduction of risks from pesticide use has received strong public attention lately and is on the agenda of policymakers and actors of food value chains worldwide. In Switzerland, citizens will have to vote on two popular initiatives for a restriction of pesticide use in 2020: “Die Initiative für sauberes Trinkwasser” and “Für eine Schweiz ohne synthetische Pestizide”.

What are the key challenges of reducing pesticide use in agriculture?

What could a holistic solution that integrates all actors of food value chains look like?

How can new agriculture production systems guarantee food supply for a growing number of people worldwide – while using less inputs?

Hear answers to these questions from:

Niklas Möhring who is currently working as a PostDoc at ETH Zurich, investigating solutions to bring pesticide-free wheat to Switzerland. His goal is to bridge the gap between science, policy and actors of food value chains, and two other experts in the field.

Gabriele Mack from Agroscope, who ist an expert in this field and is doing research on the potential impact of the initiative for clean drinking water (“Die Initiative für sauberes Trinkwasser”).

Join us for this virtual informal drinks to hear short inputs from three experts in the field and for meeting our community and do some networking!
